Supporting the Coronavirus emergency
The Connolly Foundation has to date donated £50,000 to the Bedfordshire Coronavirus Emergency Fund.
Of that money, £7,500 has already been given to the Tibbs Dementia Foundation to provide both a telephone support service for up to 200 families and ensure more regular contact can be made via increased email communications.
Another £7,500 was awarded to Carers in Bedfordshire to address needs around isolation and a further £6,000 is going to the Safer Luton Partnership to help provide meals to vulnerable and older people.
These groups all meet the Connolly criteria and the money is being channelled through the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation (BLCF).
Francesca Johnstone, Head of Grants and Programmes, for BLCF, added:
“The Connolly Foundation is a valued partner to our Coronavirus Emergency Fund.
“Their focus on older people ensures one of the most vulnerable groups in our community remains a priority during this difficult time.
“Their recent awards ensure both the most basic and psychological human needs; food and companionship are being met, both of which are critical, now more than ever.”
